The A1 Chemistry Story

From F9 to A1: A System That Works

Meet the founder who transformed his own failing grades into a distinction and dedicated the last 6 years to helping students do exactly the same.

What do students need to excel in O Level Chemistry with minimal stress and actually enjoy learning about it?

It is no secret that many students find O Level Chemistry incredibly demoralizing. I know exactly how that feels, because in Secondary 3, I failed Chemistry with a F9.

Keith failed O Level Chemistry in Sec 3

It was disheartening. I put in a lot of effort when I was reading the notes and trying to memorize concepts, but every time I faced an application question in an exam, my mind went blank. It pains me today to see so many bright students putting in tremendous effort, only to grapple with the exact same conceptual errors and careless mistakes I did. Exam questions are often much harder than school homework, resulting in students losing their confidence and motivation.

My turning point came when I realized that hard work wasn't enough — I needed a system. I discovered that volume is king. I started doing past year papers relentlessly and even did the entire Yearly Ten-Year Series twice! Every single time I got a question wrong, I didn't just look at the correct answer. I dissected it:

How were the marks allocated?

How was the answer structured?

What precise phrasing was used?

What specific keywords did the examiners demand?

I applied those structures to the next paper. Then the next. It was a cycle I kept repeating, slowly refining my answers until they were irrefutable. That was when I discovered that "thinking like markers" is the true secret to succeeding in O Level Chemistry. That system pulled my F9 up to an A1.

As I embarked on growing A1 Chemistry, we built everything around this exact methodology. We don't just teach chemistry concepts; we equip students with the answering techniques, structures, and keywords they need to score. That is the core of The A1 Method.

Beyond the classroom, we ensured students never felt alone or unsupported. This is why we strictly cap our classes at 4 students, offer complimentary 1-on-1 consultations, and provide 24/7 WhatsApp support. We deeply care for your child's growth.

Reflecting on the past 6 years, it fills me with immense joy knowing that we have assisted 100+ students in excelling in their exams. What I am most proud of, however, is witnessing their transformations — not just in their academic performance, but in their mindset and regained confidence.

If you have yet to experience our classes, I warmly invite you to view our tuition programmes, book a free trial lesson, or reach out to us on WhatsApp. We look forward to welcoming you.

"We don't just teach students Chemistry. We train them to reverse-engineer the mark scheme, so they know exactly what the examiner wants before they even pick up their pen."

Our Culture

Support, Transparency, and Results

👥

Why 4 Students Max

Most tuition centers pack 10 to 15 students in 1 session. We refuse to do that. In a class of 4, there is nowhere to hide. We know exactly when a student is confused, allowing us to patch foundation gaps in real-time without slowing down the rest of the group.

📊

Radical Transparency

Parents shouldn't have to wait for the WA1, WA2 or WA3/Prelims to find out their child is struggling. We provide detailed, written monthly reports on every single student. If your child is making incredible breakthroughs, you will be the first to know. If they are struggling, we will proactively reach out to you with solutions and support. We are in this together.
